Hygge and Lagom — Secrets to Scandinavian happiness?

Today, let’s learn a few cool words and wise concepts from our Scandinavian friends.

The Danish “hygge” is all about feeling cozy and relaxed such as being all comfy in your pajamas watching Game of Thrones with your loved ones or having a wonderful, casual meal with close friends: http://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-34345791

Apparently, now according to the cool kids in the know, the Danes are now finding competition from their Swedish neighbours in their “lagom” concept of having everything in balance and moderation which leads to blissful contentment: http://www.bbc.com/travel/story/20170818-the-swedish-word-thats-displacing-hygge

Could hygge and lagom be the secrets to happiness?  After all, both the Danes and Swedes are in the top 10 happiest countries (out of 155) according to the 2017 World Happiness Report: http://worldhappiness.report/ed/2017/

As I will be heading out to a hygge get-together at a friend’s home this evening, I hope I can exhibit some lagom in my eating endeavours. /(^_^)\
